When I got onto my computer yesterday evening, I first went to check for new blogs. To my excitement, there was one new post from a great fellow blogger, Maria at Lost in the Labyrinth, whose work I enjoy greatly. I began to read the blog, ready for an inspiring or thought-provoking pondering. Instead, I was surprised to see she was awarded the WordPress Family Award. My joy for her turned into shock when I saw that she nominated me for the same award.
Starting to open up on my blog, I had no idea what to expect. After being ignored, teased, lied to, and abandoned for years, I feared interacting with others. However, the WordPress blogging community has given me the chance to speak out. Not only have I shared my pain and fears but also my triumphs and joys. Others have encouraged me whether by relating to my struggles or affirming my journey toward recovery.
Thus, I am so thankful and honored to receive this award. Although I am fairly new to blogging, I have been welcomed so kindly and have attempted to show others that same graciousness. Every person who reads, comments, follows, or likes my blogs means a great deal to me! I wish that I could convey how helpful this outlet has been for me. Hopefully it has aided those who view it as well.
Once again, thank you a million times to Maria at Lost in the Labyrinth! You were one of the first people to welcome me at WordPress and have truly inspired me with each post.
Now, just so you know what The WordPress Family Award is all about, here is a word from Shaun, the creator of this award:
‘This is an award for everyone who is part of the “WordPress Family” I started this award on the basis that the WordPress family has taken me in, and showed me love and a caring side only WordPress can. The way people take a second to be nice, to answer a question and not make things a competition amazes me here. I know I have been given many awards, but I wanted to leave my own legacy on here by creating my own award, as many have done before. This represents “Family” we never meet, but are there for us as family. It is my honour to start this award. Thank you Shaun @ http://prayingforoneday.wordpress.com/
NOW THE FUN (and the work) starts, the rules are as follows:
1. Display the award logo on your blog (see above).
2. Link back to the person who nominated you (also see above!)
3. Nominate 10 others who have positively impacted your WordPress experience.
4. Don’t forget to let your WordPress family members know of your nomination.
5. That’s it! Just pick 10 people that have accepted you as a friend, and spread the love!
So here are all of my nominations (in alphabetical order) for The WordPress Family Award:
They all deserve it! Keep passing on the love.
